The history of the Bonehunters is steeped in tragedy and triumph. Following the destruction of the previous Malazan legions, Fist Coltaine gathered the survivors to form a new unit. During their march across Genabackis, they were forced to leave behind thousands of wounded soldiers who walked to their deaths rather than slow the army down, an event that cemented their grim reputation. After the death of Coltaine and the intervention of the god K'rul, the legion was reorganized under Adjunct Tavore Paran. They became known as the Bonehunters, a name reflecting their scavenging nature on battlefields and their willingness to fight through hell itself. Their journey took them across oceans and continents, challenging gods and empires alike.
